Hello all! How’s your sweater coming along? I’ve moved on from joining the front and back hems and am about 4-5cm away from being done with my stockinette section. I often find that when I get to a large section of stockinette, my knitting pace slows down quite a bit when it’s being worked in the round.
This month we have 3 exciting trunk shows planned!!! The first one happened just this past weekend in Portland at the Starlight Knitting Society! They’ve just expanded their shop and it looks beautiful! This weekend, our yarn will be at Downtown Knits, in North Carolina, and then next weekend we’ll be here at the Haus of Yarn in Nashville again!
I am so excited for this event to get rolling here, especially during October! Knitting season is full on here in the Northern Hemisphere, and our queues are getting full.
Rie Vive, a designer from Kochi, Japan, has created a timeless, cozy, fun knit out of our Retreat base here at Nutmeg Fibers. I was so honored that she was interested in working with our yarn when I reached out to her, and the pattern she came up with is something that you’ll want to wear this year or ten years from now.
I can hear the heat bubbling up in my radiator, that cozy sound that always reminds me that fall is nearly here! It’s a little extra cool here today, about 57F/11C, and I’m so happy to be sipping on my warm tea and writing about yarn! TBH, I only pulled out the heater for that extra cozy feeling today, since I was writing a bunch!
I got home from Vogue Knit Live: San Francisco Monday afternoon, and after a few days of jet lag, have enough brain space to write about it! Last weekend was the perfect time to go visit San Francisco.
Anyhow! So, I have some fun yarn-tastic events coming up this fall that I wanted to share with you! First up is Vogue Knit Live later this month in San Francisco! It's always great to visit the west coast knitting scene, and I can't wait to see everyone! This is their first event in San Francisco and the vendor list looks truly amazing, so I'm really thrilled to get to see some great fiberfolk for a weekend of fun in San Fran!
I've been in a bit of a funk lately while getting settled back in here in Nashville after our trip. So, in efforts to shake the moody blues away, I decided to just have some fun and play out in the dye studio today. I had a lot of fun working on the Limited Edition summer colorway back at the end of June,
Our first stop on our day trip was to go and visit Walnut Shop. Most anyone reading this will know about Amirisu magazine, a stunning knitting publication that is out of Kyoto. A few years ago, Meri had interviewed me for their issue about Nashville. I was really flattered to have tiny little shop front featured, and even still today, many people tell me that they discovered Nutmeg Fibers because of Amirisu! So, it was really great to be able to stop by and see their shop, Walnut Shop: Kyoto, in person.
So, as I’ve been busy this past week, re-acclimating to Tennessee time zones, catching up on emails, getting my daughter ready for her Freshman year of high school, etc….I failed to realize that it’s Nutmeg’s birthday month!!! As I looked back at posters and instagram,
So, if you’ve been following along, you’ll see that while we were in Osaka, the main purpose of my trip was to have a Trunk Show at Eylul Yarn. The event was scheduled for Friday July 13th, and we left it set up throughout that whole weekend as well.
