Welcome 2019!!

Welcome 2019!!

I can hardly believe that it’s been 5 years since I started dyeing yarn in my kitchen for Nutmeg Fibers!!! And also, that I’ve been in business as Nutmeg for 7 years! This post is over a week after “New Years” but it takes me a little time to get around to my blogging schedule after the holiday season is over. Oh well! That’s how life works.

I sent an email a few days ago with a picture of our new labels, that I’m completely over the moon about!! @JinnyLy helped me create these with her wonderful illustration style, and they represent each of the 4 bases that we’ve been creating over the past 5 years here at Nutmeg Fibers HQ. A big part of my new focus is also sharing knowledge so that others can learn, and so she also helped me to create a wonderful new label for our dye kits.

Also, I wanted to let you know that the few calendars we have left are now on sale! It’s a wonderful chance to support small business even if you don’t knit!

We’ll be bringing a few of these with us to Vogue Knitting Live:NYC this month, just in case you’ve not gotten your calendar for the year yet! But you can also get it now from us, for a wonderful sale price!!

I’ve been working hard to dye yarn during the cold months, as well as to get a new resource together for any of you out there that have been curious about beginning the Slow Color/Natural Dyes process yourself! Our Wooland members are already aware of this, and now I get to share the news with everyone!!

So…..drumroll, please, coming January 2019 (debuting officially at VKL:NYC) will be our Pocket Guide to Natural Dyes! This small booklet is at the printer right now, with some details getting finalized so they can begin the print! This is something I’ve been working on for over a year now, and I’m so thrilled to have it finished! It’s a labor of love and one that is an introduction to working with natural dyes. It’s something I’m beyond excited about, and I can’t wait to add to it, and let it grow into volume 2, 3, 4 as the years go on, since there will always be more to learn and share about the art of natural dyeing!

Please keep an eye out for when ordering becomes available on this product, and let your local yarn shops know as well! We’ll be offering these to our LYS Stockists, as well as arts and crafts shops worldwide once they arrive to us from the printer!

Ok, I need to go for now, because I’m worried I’ll begin to ramble. More information coming soon regarding our upcoming events, but if you’re curious, visit our events page now!
