Julie Hoover's Vite Hat!
I sent out an email post about this new pattern from Julie Hoover last week, but wanted to be sure to mark it in my blog as well! Especially since this would be PERFECT for last minute holiday gifts.
So….about a year ago, when I was a vendor at Vogue Knitting Live in Chicago for the first time, I was thrilled when Jen Beeman of Grainline Studio stopped by! She had come to Nashville several years before to teach a workshop in my tiny, tiny shop, and it was really great to have the opportunity to see her again!
Perusing alongside her that day, among the quite small group of vendors, was Julie Hoover. I was, I have to say, a bit starstruck to have had the chance to meet her and talk with her, and I told her about how her Benton sweater was the first sweater I ever attempted, and we all chatted for a bit. Trade shows like that are always a wonderful chance for yarn dyers to actually get to meet designers in person, and this was no exception!
A month or so after that, I got in touch with Julie regarding if she’d be interested in having any of my yarn as a sample. I knew she must be so busy, and didn’t know if she’d actually have the time to work a pattern up with it, but she responded so kindly, and I sent along a few color ways for her. However, she got in touch recently with some photos of this wonderful hat I was over the moon!! I have to say, I was really honored that she’d taken the time from her busy Sweater Club schedule to work with our yarn, and I’m so glad she did!!
The Vite hat is beautiful, subtle, and classic, all the things you’d expect from a Julie Hoover design. It’s reversible as well, but I think I’m loving the version she shows in her photos. I’m pretty sure 3 or 4 people will be receiving this from me this year, and I’m playing with some different stash skeins that I have that could work in combination with our Retreat base. Thanks Julie for creating something beautiful with our yarn!!
